In the season 23 premiere of The Bachelor, twenty-six eligible bachelorettes arrive at the mansion to compete for the heart of the newest bachelor, Colton Underwood. As Colton anxiously awaits the arrival of his potential future wife, he shares his hopes and fears for the journey ahead.
After the limos pull up, each girl makes a memorable entrance in hopes of catching Colton's attention. One girl even brings her dog along for the ride. As the introductions wrap up, the ladies get some one-on-one time with Colton to try to make a connection. Some women come off as confident and charming, while others seem to struggle with nerves and shyness.
The first group date is action-packed, with Colton and a group of women going to a camp for young children. There, they participate in activities to help the kids have fun, including tie-dyeing, cupcake decorating, and even setting up a temporary "zoo." As the group date wraps up, Colton feels torn about his feelings for some of the women.
The first one-on-one date of the season is with Hannah, who gets the coveted "First Impression Rose" at the beginning of the episode. Colton takes her to a lavish spa day, complete with massages, a hot tub, and a special serenade from pop star Tenille Arts. As the date progresses, Hannah reveals a traumatic experience from her past that leaves Colton feeling compassionate and understanding.
The second group date is a challenging obstacle course designed to test the women's physical and mental strengths. The women are split into two teams, and the winning team gets to spend more time with Colton at the after-party. Drama ensues as one woman, in particular, becomes increasingly aggressive and competitive during the competition.
As the rose ceremony approaches, Colton reflects on his days so far in the mansion and starts to develop a deeper interest in some of the women. However, he also starts to realize that some of the women may not be there for the right reasons and may be causing problems for the other contestants.
The episode ends with the rose ceremony, where Colton must decide which women to eliminate and which to keep for the next week of the journey. As the eliminated women say their goodbyes, they express their disappointment but also their gratitude for the chance to meet Colton and compete on this season of The Bachelor.
