In The Avengers season 4 episode 8 named "A Surfeit of H2O," John Steed and Emma Peel are called upon to investigate a series of bizarre and inexplicable murders in the village of Midsomer Mallow. The victims all appear to have died of dehydration, despite being surrounded by an abundance of water.
As Steed and Peel begin their investigation, they quickly discover that the water supply in Midsomer Mallow has been tampered with, and that the entire village is in danger of running out of water altogether. The culprit is revealed to be a wealthy industrialist named Roland Culver, who has been secretly hoarding the village's water supply in an attempt to drive up the price and make a fortune.
Culver is aided in his scheme by a group of corrupt local officials, including the town clerk and the water board chairman, who are all too happy to turn a blind eye to his nefarious activities in exchange for a cut of the profits. As Steed and Peel work to unravel the conspiracy, they find themselves facing off against a series of deadly traps and obstacles, including a massive water-filled tank that threatens to engulf them at any moment.
Despite the danger, Steed and Peel remain determined to bring Culver and his accomplices to justice. With the help of a local scientist, they devise a plan to drain the water from the giant tank and expose Culver's crimes to the world once and for all. In the end, justice is served and the people of Midsomer Mallow are able to reclaim their precious water supply.
