Emma Peel and John Steed are on the hunt for a murderer in "Death at Bargain Prices," episode 4 of season 4 of The Avengers. The victim is a director of the department store, Fenwick's, who is found dead among the mannequins in the store's showroom.
It seems that the murder may be linked to Fenwick's upcoming sale, which offers huge discounts on the store's entire stock for a limited time. Emma and Steed go undercover as employees at the store to investigate the sale's organizers - the eccentric G. Henry Shickle and his assistant, Miss Prudence Banks.
As they dig deeper, they discover a complex web of deceit and betrayal among the store's staff, and it quickly becomes clear that not everyone is who they seem. Among the suspects are two jealous rivals, a ruthless manager, and a glamorous model who may have had more than a professional interest in the director.
Complicating matters further is a band of bumbling thugs who are also after the sale's profits, and who will stop at nothing to get their hands on them. Emma and Steed must use all their wits and ingenuity to solve the case and bring the murderer to justice.
With its colorful characters, witty dialogue, and clever twists and turns, "Death at Bargain Prices" is a classic example of the stylish and sophisticated crime-solving that made The Avengers a hit with audiences around the world.
