In this episode of The Andy Griffith Show, entitled "Aunt Bee's Invisible Beau," Aunt Bee finds herself the object of affection of a man she has never met. She receives anonymous gifts and phone calls, and is convinced that she has a secret admirer.
Andy and Barney, upon hearing of Aunt Bee's situation, decide to investigate. They try to track down the mystery man by following the trail of gifts he has given Aunt Bee. However, despite their best efforts, they are unable to identify the man.
Meanwhile, Aunt Bee continues to receive gifts and phone calls from her mystery admirer. She becomes increasingly enamored with him, and is excited at the prospect of finally meeting him in person.
As the days go by, Andy and Barney become more and more frustrated with their lack of progress in the case. They begin to suspect that Aunt Bee's mystery man may not even exist, and that perhaps she is making him up in her own mind.
However, their theories are proven wrong when Aunt Bee finally sets a date to meet her mystery man. She is thrilled beyond words, and spends hours getting ready for their meeting.
When the time finally arrives, Andy and Barney accompany Aunt Bee to the designated location. However, when they arrive, there is no one there. Aunt Bee is crushed, and Andy and Barney are just as confused as ever.
As they all head home, Andy realizes that Aunt Bee's mystery man is actually her own reflection in a store window. He explains the situation to her, and Aunt Bee is embarrassed but relieved to finally have an explanation for her admirer's mysterious disappearance.
In the end, Aunt Bee learns an important lesson about the power of imagination and the danger of reading too much into a situation. She is grateful to Andy and Barney for their efforts to help her, and returns home with a newfound sense of clarity and contentment.
