Elizabeth and Phillip Jennings have a lot to do in The Americans season 1 episode 2. They've got to obtain a clock from a security company in order to decrypt a message they received from their handlers at the KGB. This might seem easy at first, but it's complicated by a few factors.
First, they're also dealing with their teenage daughter Paige, whose suspicions about her parents' actions continue to grow. Paige is convinced that her parents are hiding something, and she's determined to figure out what it is.
Second, Elizabeth and Phillip are still learning how to work together effectively. They both have their own ways of approaching missions, and they're still working on finding a balance between their different styles.
Finally, there's the issue of Stan Beeman, the FBI agent who has moved in across the street. Stan is a bit of a wildcard, and Elizabeth and Phillip don't know whether they can trust him or not.
As they work to obtain the clock, Elizabeth and Phillip face a number of obstacles. They have to contend with a security guard who's on high alert, as well as a woman who seems to be onto their scheme. To make matters worse, they're running out of time to decrypt the message before it's too late.
All of this adds up to a tense and thrilling episode of The Americans. Fans of spy thrillers will love the intricate plotting and high-stakes action, while those who enjoy family dramas will appreciate the complex relationships between the characters. The Clock is a great example of why The Americans is one of the best shows on television.
