In the season 2 episode 7 of The Addams Family titled "Halloween - Addams Style," the eccentric and spooky family prepares for their favorite holiday of the year. The episode opens with the family discussing their plans for Halloween while Uncle Fester sets up spooky decorations around the house.
As the family prepares for their annual costume party, Gomez suggests they invent a new game to play. The family decides to create a game of their own, where they each pick a role to act out, and one person has to guess who they are pretending to be. The game takes a creepy turn when the family realizes that their roles are all based on actual family members who died years ago.
Meanwhile, Wednesday and Pugsley's classmates plan to come to the Addams' party and pull a prank on them. The Addams, however, are more than prepared for anything the outside world would bring at them.
Later, the family’s long-deceased great aunt Elvira arrives from the afterlife to take part in the festivities. While the family is overjoyed to see her, she is less than pleased about being dead and stuck in the afterlife. As they prepare for the party, Elvira's discontent grows, feeling like she has been left out of the fun for far too long.
During the party, the family shows off their elaborate costumes and the guests take turns guessing who they are supposed to be. Fester stuns the crowd with his realistic Dracula costume, while Wednesday terrifies everyone with her dead-on portrayal of a burned witch. Meanwhile, Uncle Fester's cousin Itt decides to create a few scares by jumping on party guests when they least expect it.
The party is in full swing when suddenly, the lights go out, and the room is plunged into darkness. Everyone panics, except for the Addams family, who seem to be enjoying the chaos. Itt reveals that he had unplugged all the lights of the mansion to make it even more creepier.
As the family and their guests continue to play their game, Elvira becomes even more frustrated with her ghostly existence and starts to get increasingly angry at the family.
As the party winds down, Elvira becomes even more upset about her predicament. She becomes so overwhelmed that she starts to fade away until she disappears altogether. The family assumes that she must have moved on to the afterlife, but the episode ends with Elvira's voice assuring them that she will be back next year to join in on the celebration.
In the end, the family reflects on their Halloween traditions and how they make them feel alive and connected to the past. They realize that no matter how strange or macabre their customs may seem to others, they are happy in their own way, and that's all that matters.
