Ep 3. Jabbar The Powerful

  • July 22, 2012

The 99 is an animated TV series set in a fictional Middle Eastern city. The show's premise revolves around 99 superheroes who possess special abilities that are based on the 99 attributes of Allah in Islamic tradition. The focus is on a group of young heroes who must use their powers to combat evil and protect their city.

In episode 3 of season 1 titled "Jabbar The Powerful," we see a new hero joining the group - Jabbar. Jabbar's power lies in his extraordinary strength, which is why he is known as "The Powerful." He is initially shown as a show-off who likes to display his strength in front of people. But as the episode progresses, we see a different side to him.

The plot of the episode revolves around a villain named Rughal. Rughal is a businessman who dislikes the 99 because they are interfering with his evil plans. He wants to discredit them in the eyes of the public and is therefore spreading rumors about them. The 99, on the other hand, are trying to stop Rughal from carrying out a plan that involves harming innocent people.

The episode highlights the power of propaganda and how it can be used to spread misinformation and discredit the truth. Rughal uses his network to spread lies about the 99 and turn the people against them. This is where Jabbar's true strength comes into play. Jabbar, being a show-off, is always around people who admire his strength. When Rughal's propaganda reaches Jabbar, he too begins to doubt the 99's intentions.

However, as the episode progresses, Jabbar realizes that there is more to being a hero than just having physical strength. He understands the importance of being morally upright and standing up for what is right, even when it may not be popular. Jabbar's character arc in the episode is one of the highlights.

Apart from that, the action sequences in the episode are impressive. We see the 99 using their powers to stop Rughal's nefarious plan. Each member of the group brings something unique to the table, and their powers complement each other. For example, Hadya's ability to control water is used to extinguish a fire, and Noora's power to fly is used to stop a falling object from harming innocent bystanders.

Overall, the episode is a good introduction to Jabbar's character and also highlights the importance of staying true to one's morals even when faced with adversity. It is an entertaining and action-packed episode that will keep viewers engaged.
