Tom and Diana try to figure out what's happening to people all over the world who are developing extraordinary abilities overnight. While investigating one such case, they meet Carl Morrissey, a man who has developed telekinetic powers. He reveals to them that he was a former drug addict and prisoner who was experimented on while in prison and given this ability. Despite their concerns about Carl's powers, they decide to help him adjust to his new life and find out more about his past.
