The 100 is a post-apocalyptic science fiction drama television series. Set 97 years after a devastating nuclear apocalypse has wiped out almost all life on Earth, the show follows a group of 100 teenagers who are sent back to Earth from a space station to see if the planet is habitable again. In season 1, episode 11 titled "The Calm," the group faces new challenges as they try to survive in a world that has drastically changed.
The episode begins with Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia, and Finn returning to camp after their successful mission to retrieve the acid fog. They are greeted by a celebration, as the Ark survivors are now able to safely explore the surrounding area without fear of being attacked. However, their victory is short-lived as a new threat emerges. Murphy, who was banished from the group in an earlier episode, returns to the camp with a group of Grounders, seeking revenge against the group.
As tensions rise between the two groups, Clarke suggests a meeting to negotiate a truce. The Grounders agree, and the two groups gather to discuss terms. However, the negotiations quickly break down, and violence erupts. In the chaos, a member of the Sky People is killed, and Clarke is taken captive by the Grounders.
Meanwhile, on the Ark, Chancellor Jaha is facing his own set of challenges. As resources become scarce, he must make difficult decisions to ensure the survival of the remaining population. He must also deal with the fact that his son, Wells, was murdered on Earth.
Back on Earth, Bellamy leads a rescue mission to try and save Clarke from the Grounders. They manage to find her, but they are outnumbered and outmatched. In a desperate move, Bellamy suggests that they use the acid fog to level the playing field. Though hesitant at first, Clarke agrees, and they successfully defeat the Grounders and rescue their captive.
As the episode comes to a close, the group reflects on the events of the day, and Clarke realizes that they will never truly be safe on Earth. They must continue to fight for their survival against all odds.
Overall, "The Calm" is a tense and action-packed episode that showcases the group's resourcefulness and determination in the face of danger. It sets the stage for future conflicts and challenges as they continue to navigate their new world.
