In Terra Nova season 1 episode 2, titled "Instinct," we continue to follow the Shannon family as they navigate life in the prehistoric world of Terra Nova. The episode opens with a mysterious illness sweeping through the settlement, causing animals to become aggressive and putting the lives of the colonists in danger.
While investigating the cause of the illness, Jim Shannon (played by Jason O'Mara) and Commander Nathaniel Taylor (played by Stephen Lang) stumble upon a group of "Sixers" - a faction of people who were banished from Terra Nova for breaking the rules - who are hoarding a rare mineral that could be used to cure the illness.
Meanwhile, back at the Shannon home, the rest of the family - including Jim's wife Elisabeth (played by Shelley Conn) and their three children - are dealing with their own issues. Their teenage son Josh (played by Landon Liboiron) is struggling to fit in with the other students at the Terra Nova school, while their youngest daughter Zoe (played by Alana Mansour) befriends a young stegosaurus.
As the illness spreads and tensions rise, the colonists must come together to find a cure before it's too late. But with the Sixers lurking in the shadows and secrets being kept by those in power, it becomes clear that not everyone has the best interests of the community at heart.
Overall, "Instinct" is a thrilling episode that builds on the world-building of the show's pilot. With its mix of action, suspense, and family drama, Terra Nova has all the makings of a classic sci-fi adventure series.
