The episode begins with Izumi, Tenchi's sister, saying goodbye to him as he boards the train to Tokyo. Once he arrives at Tokyo, he is amazed by the sprawling city and skyscrapers. He feels like everything is exciting and new.

After getting off from the train, Tenchi goes to his new home. However, he faces a problem when he finds out that the house he rented is already occupied by three girls Sakuya, Yugi, and Mihoshi. They have been living in the house for a year, and they are not willing to give it up, even though Tenchi has valid paperwork. Tenchi doesn't want to create any trouble, so he decides to go around the city for a while.

As Tenchi is strolling around, he meets a young girl named Haruna who is upset about the unseasonable blossoming of the cherry trees. She explains to him that the cherry blossoms usually bloom in early spring, but it's winter now. This upsets Haruna as she looks forward to the cherry blossom festival every year, and it won't happen because of the early blooming.

Tenchi is fascinated by Haruna's love for the cherry blossoms, and he takes her to the trees where she can see them. However, they both notice something odd happening. The blossoms that are blooming are not the typical cherry blossoms but instead a type of black flowers. Haruna is confused and upset about the strange situation and starts running away. Tenchi follows her and tries to soothe her feelings.

Meanwhile, at the house, the girls decided to let Tenchi stay as a temporary guest. They start to notice strange events happening around the house. Sakuya sees a vision of her old self, which she buried deep inside of her. Yugi sees a vision of Ayeka, the Princess from the planet Jurai, and Mihoshi sees a vision of her former partner Kiyone. All three of them are confused and anxious about these visions.

Later that evening, Tenchi returns home and is welcomed warmly by the girls. However, the girls are still uneasy about the vision they experienced earlier. They tell Tenchi about it, and he tries to reassure them by saying that it was just their imagination running wild. But, Tenchi himself also notices strange things happening like odd noises and movements. The girls are all relieved when they find out that Tenchi is a decent cook and make him their cook. They also encourage him to stay for a while longer.
