In the episode "Super Hero for a Day" from Season 4 of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, our heroes are feeling down after their recent defeat at the hands of Shredder and his cronies. As they wallow in their sorrows, they witness a group of young children being bullied by a group of older boys.
The Turtles quickly step in to defend the children, but the bullies prove to be too much for them to handle and they end up getting captured and taken to an abandoned warehouse. As they sit in captivity, feeling useless and defeated, they are visited by a mysterious figure who promises to give them super powers if they agree to do a job for him.
Desperate to make a difference and regain their sense of purpose, the Turtles agree and are given a set of super powers that enhance each of their unique abilities. Donatello gains super strength, Michelangelo gains the ability to fly, Raphael becomes invisible, and Leonardo gains the power of telekinesis.
With their new powers, they set out to complete their mission, which involves taking down a dangerous criminal organization that has been terrorizing the city. However, they soon begin to realize that their new powers come with a cost and may not be worth the risk.
As they face off against the criminals, they start to lose control of their powers and their own identities, realizing that being a hero isn't just about having super powers. They ultimately learn that it's their strength as a team and their unwavering dedication to doing what's right that make them true heroes.
