Ep 29. Blast from the Past

The episode "Blast from the Past" of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) season 3 begins with the turtles testing a new invention called the "Hypno-pendant" which they've been trying to perfect for a while. While testing it out, Donatello accidentally activates it and zaps himself along with his brothers, causing them all to fall unconscious. When they wake up, everyone is in a panic as they're now in a strange place, surrounded by unfamiliar scenery.

It's revealed soon enough that they've been transported back in time to the 17th century Japan. They're understandably confused but are soon brought up to speed by a wise old rat named Gyogi: they've been sent back in time because they're the only ones who can stop an evil sorcerer named Lord Simultaneous who is on a mission to obtain a time scepter which will grant him immense power and control over time.

The turtles agree to help out and are soon joined by Gyogi himself and an unlikely ally: an anthropomorphic wolf named Usagi Yojimbo. It's quickly established that Usagi is a skilled warrior who's also on a mission to take down Lord Simultaneous for his own reasons.

The group sets out to acquire the time scepter before Lord Simultaneous can get his hands on it. They're faced with a series of challenges along the way: they have to navigate through a maze guarded by ferocious tigers, rescue a group of villagers who have been captured by Lord Simultaneous' minions, and fight off a group of ninja assassins who are after Usagi.

As they journey forward, tensions between Usagi and the turtles begin to rise. Usagi is a lone wolf and is not used to being a part of a team, while the turtles are used to working together and following their leader Leonardo. This causes some friction but eventually, they all learn to work together and put their differences aside to achieve their goal.

Finally, they reach Lord Simultaneous' castle where the time scepter is kept. They manage to get inside and face off against Lord Simultaneous and his minions in an epic battle. In the end, it's the turtles and Usagi who prevail, and they manage to destroy the time scepter, rendering Lord Simultaneous powerless.

As they return to their own time, the turtles bid farewell to their new friends Gyogi and Usagi, promising to meet again someday. They return to their lair, relieved to be back home but also knowing that they've just fought their biggest battle yet.

"Blast from the Past" is a thrilling episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that takes the turtles on an adventure through time and showcases their teamwork and bravery. With a mix of action, humor, and heart, it's a standout episode that's sure to be remembered by fans of the series.
