Tease is a reality television show produced by Michael Yudin for the G Group and MY Entertainment and is broadcast on the Oxygen Network. Hosted by actress Lisa Rinna, the show's concept concerns two hair stylists facing off in an Olympics-type contest. Aspiring stylists use their learned skills as they are faced with various challenging involving cutting and styling hair.
Featuring a panel of expert judges including stylist Peter Ishkhans, agent Frank Moore and model Roshumba Williams, the team decides which of the aspiring hair stylists competing will have a chance at the supreme challenge of having a toe-to-toe battle against one of the following master stylists: Stephanie Hobgood, Kim Vo or Clyde Haygood.
The first round of the competition features small town hairdressers handling the hair of live models. During a 45-minute period, the stylists must create new looks according to the challenge presented. They use scissors and other cutting instruments, various types of dye, hair extensions and other cutting-edge techniques. Each of the hair stylists tend to have their own special techniques that they learned at various styling schools around the country. Additionally, each stylist had the opportunity to learn specific tricks of the trade from other mentors. Using these special tips, the stylists are able to compete against the others in unique ways.
Once a stylist contestant surpasses the level of hair pro expertise, their photo will be hung alongside the Tease hair wall of fame and will receive the coveted silver scissors, which is considered the styling victory.
Episodes include a number of themed timed challenges that are designed to elevate the hair stylists' skills to their limits and beyond. For example, the challenges have included mastering a celebrity look-alike, transitioning from very long to short hair, fashioning the various shades of blonde hair, establishing individualism for identical twins, fashioning rock n' roll hair and creating avant garde styles, such as those seen in worldwide hair shows.
