In Taxi season 5 episode 13 titled "Louie Moves Uptown", we see Louie De Palma, the sarcastic and occasionally devious dispatcher for the Sunshine Cab Company, won a substantial amount of money in a football betting pool and he has decided to upgrade his lifestyle. He is determined to move out of his grungy apartment in Brooklyn to a high-end luxury apartment uptown.
The episode begins with Louie interrupting the regular flow of customers at work to tell them the good news about his impending move, but soon realizes that he needs to find a new place to live that suits him. He phones his real estate broker for help but is told that none of the places that he has shown him previously are available at the moment. Louie then tries to bribe the broker to find him a better place, but the broker rebuffs Louie's sleazy advances and flatly tells him that he cannot be bought.
Meanwhile, the other cab drivers at the cab company are amused by Louie's predicament and decide to take advantage of his situation by placing bets on whether he will be successful in his quest for a better apartment. Tony, one of the Sunshine cab drivers, offers to take Louie apartment hunting with him, but Louie scoffs at the idea, stating that he knows the real estate business better than anyone.
Louie's search for an uptown apartment continues to be futile, and he is only left with terrible choices in undesirable locations. The only hope for Louie may be the home of Zena, one of the cab drivers, who is out of town. Zena's apartment would be perfect for Louie; it's spacious, lavish, and in a great location. Louie decides to take advantage of the opportunity and proceeds to move in without permission, leaving him feeling like a king in his new palace.
Things take a turn for the worse when Zena returns home unexpectedly and catches Louie living in her apartment. She is understandably outraged by his presumptuous behavior and demands that he leave immediately. The other cab drivers who supported Louie in his bid to move uptown now turn against him, and all bets are off.
