Tony sets up a surprise for Alex, who has always dreamed of skydiving even though he is afraid of heights. After convincing Alex to come with him on an errand, Tony takes him to an airport instead and reveals their plans to skydive. Initially hesitant, Alex decides to overcome his fear and go through with it.
Meanwhile, Louie is dealing with a difficult customer at the Sunshine Cab Company, a wealthy and demanding woman who insists on having a specific driver every time she calls for a cab. When she threatens to take her business elsewhere, Louie enlists the help of Bobby and Elaine to pretend to be different drivers and fulfill her demands.
Back at the airport, Alex and Tony meet their instructor, who seems more concerned with flirting with a female student than with safety instructions. Despite this, they proceed with the jump and Alex, surprisingly, enjoys the experience. However, when it comes time to pull the parachute, Alex panics and is unable to do it, leaving Tony to take control and save the day.
After the jump, Tony becomes envious of Alex's fearlessness and starts to question his own bravery. Meanwhile, the difficult customer from earlier returns and demands that Bobby and Elaine drive her to a party, but they soon realize that she has been lying about her identity and was trying to impress her friends.
As the episode comes to a close, Alex and Tony discuss their respective fears and how they have faced them. Louie gets revenge on the difficult customer by driving her around in circles and running up her fare, and the gang at Sunshine Cab Company celebrates their successful deception.
Overall, "Alex Jumps out of an Airplane" is a lighthearted and humorous episode that explores the theme of facing one's fears. The skydiving scenes provide excitement and drama, while the subplots involving the difficult customer and Louie's revenge add a touch of wackiness to the episode. Fans of Taxi will enjoy seeing their favorite characters in familiar situations and the episode is likely to leave viewers feeling uplifted and entertained.
