Tony Banta, the boxer-turned-cabbie, has a big fight coming up, and he is training hard for it. But with everyone else going through their own personal crises, nobody has time for Tony and his worries. Louie, incapable of showing any empathy, instead teases Tony relentlessly and tries to goad him into a fistfight. Meanwhile, Alex has to confront his fear of commitment when he meets a girl he really likes, but he's terrified of getting hurt. Elaine has relationship troubles of her own, as her latest beau can't seem to stop talking about his ex-girlfriend. And Jim's estranged daughter comes to visit him at the garage, but he is too scared to reach out to her and make amends. As the workday winds down, everyone winds up at Mario's, taking some much-needed time to be there for one another. This episode, titled "Friends," is a touching reminder that even in the midst of our own troubles, the people around us are there to help us through them.
