Sydney to the Max is a TV series about a middle school student named Sydney Reynolds who lives with her dad Max in the present day, while flashbacks show Max's own middle school days in the 1990s.
The 11th episode of season 3 is titled "Do the Write Thing" and follows Sydney as she tries to write an essay on the topic of social justice and activism for a school assignment. Despite her initial enthusiasm, Sydney soon finds herself struggling to come up with ideas and feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of the topic.
As Sydney grapples with her writer's block, her father Max is dealing with his own issues at work. He's been struggling to relate to his younger coworkers and feeling out of touch with the modern world. However, when Sydney asks for his input on her essay, Max is inspired to share some of his own experiences from the 90s and suggests that Sydney interview one of his former colleagues.
Through Max's guidance and her own research, Sydney begins to understand more about the history of social justice movements and how they have evolved over time. She also becomes passionate about making a meaningful contribution to the cause and decides to organize a fundraiser for a local charity.
Meanwhile, Max reconnects with his old friend and is reminded of the importance of staying true to oneself and not giving in to societal pressure to conform.
In the end, Sydney finishes her essay with newfound confidence and presents it to her class alongside her fundraising efforts. The episode encourages viewers to think critically about social justice issues and the role they can play in making a positive impact on the world.
