Sydney to the Max is a comedy series about a middle-school student named Sydney and her single father Max. The show follows their lives in two different time periods, the present day and the 1990s, when Max was also a middle-schooler. This concept allows for unique and entertaining storylines that appeal to both kids and adults.

In season 2 episode 13, titled Crush Hour, Sydney is smitten with a new boy in school named Nick. She can't stop thinking about him and is desperate to find a way to get closer to him. Meanwhile, Max is dealing with his own crush in the present day, on a woman named Simone who he has been having a great time with on their dates. However, he is worried about taking the next step and ruining things.

As Sydney tries to figure out how to get Nick's attention, she comes up with a plan to "accidentally" run into him in the hallway. However, her plan backfires and she ends up spilling a tray of food all over him. Mortified, she runs away and hides in the bathroom. Her best friend Olive tries to convince her to go back out there and talk to Nick, but Sydney is too embarrassed.

Meanwhile, in the 1990s timeline, Max is having a hard time figuring out how to ask Simone to be his girlfriend. He seeks advice from his best friend Leo, who suggests that he write a love letter to Simone. Max takes Leo's advice and spends the entire night writing a heartfelt letter, but when he finally gives it to Simone, she doesn't react the way he had hoped.

Back in the present day, Sydney is still trying to avoid Nick after their embarrassing encounter in the cafeteria. Olive tries to get her to snap out of it and suggests that they spy on him to find out more about him. They sneak into the library and find Nick's journal, but when they start reading it, they realize that it's actually his English teacher's journal and not his. They quickly put it back and run out of the library, hoping no one saw them.

Meanwhile, Max and Simone are trying to figure out where their relationship stands. Simone isn't sure if she's ready to be in a committed relationship, but Max is ready to take things to the next level. He tries to convince her to go on a romantic weekend getaway with him, but she is hesitant. Eventually, they come to a compromise and decide to take a day trip together instead.

As the episode comes to a close, Sydney finally works up the nerve to talk to Nick and they have a conversation about their shared love of music. Max and Simone make plans for their day trip and seem to be on the same page about where their relationship is headed. The episode ends with Sydney feeling hopeful about her crush and Max feeling confident about his relationship with Simone.

Overall, Crush Hour is a fun and relatable episode that explores the ups and downs of crushes and relationships. The show's clever use of two timelines keeps things interesting and adds a unique twist to the typical coming-of-age story. With its lighthearted humor and family-friendly themes, Sydney to the Max is a great show for viewers of all ages.
