Kikuoka believes that Death Gun has killed at least three players thus far, and that he is planning on killing one more at the upcoming BoB finals.

Kirito and Sinon agree to help Kikuoka investigate Death Gun. They return to GGO and begin to gather information on him. They learn that Death Gun was once part of a team known as Laughing Coffin, a notorious group of player-killers from the original SAO game. They also discover that Death Gun had been targeting members of Laughing Coffin in GGO, and that one of his victims was a former member of Kirito's guild.
