Ep 1. Expectations

Suzuka season 1 episode 1, Expectations, is the beginning of a romantic comedy drama anime series, based on a manga by Kouji Seo. The show tells the story of Yamato Akitsuki​, a high school boy who moves to Tokyo to attend a university, and his life-changing encounter with Suzuka Asahina, a beautiful and talented athlete in his new school.

As Yamato attends his classes and makes new friends, he soon realizes that Suzuka is the girl he saw at the high jump practice. But his attempts to talk to her are always met with her frosty and aloof attitude.

Yamato also meets Miki Hashimoto, a senior student who becomes his mentor and helps him navigate the university life. She gives him useful advice and even invites him to join the track and field club, knowing that Yamato is a good runner.

As Yamato tries to find his place in the university, he develops a crush on Suzuka and starts to pursue her. However, Suzuka is aloof and difficult to read. She keeps her distance from Yamato and doesn't seem interested in him at all.

Through the episode, we see that Yamato is a kind and genuine guy who is genuinely interested in Suzuka and wants to know more about her. However, Suzuka's cold and distant behavior towards him makes things complicated for Yamato.

The first episode sets up the stage for the romantic comedy that will follow in the rest of the series. It introduces the characters and their personalities and gives us a glimpse of the college life in Japan. It shows us the clash of Yamato's rural upbringing and Suzuka's city lifestyle and how they come together in the university.
