Survivor: Countdown to Africa is the opening episode of the third season of the American reality TV show Survivor. This season, titled Survivor: Africa, takes place in Kenya, Africa.

The episode begins with a brief introduction of the 16 new contestants, divided into two tribes: Boran and Samburu. The host of the show, Jeff Probst, meets the contestants at their starting point, a remote location in the heart of Africa. He welcomes them and explains the rules and objectives of the game. The contestants will have to survive in the wilderness, create alliances, and compete in various challenges to avoid elimination at tribal council.

The two tribes are then given separate maps to find their respective campsites. Boran manages to find their campsite quickly, but Samburu struggles to navigate through the wilderness. The contestants in Samburu grow increasingly frustrated and tired as they wander around aimlessly. They begin to question their leadership and strategy, fearing that they have already fallen behind in the game.

As the sun begins to set, both tribes have finally arrived at their campsites. They start to gather resources, build shelter, and establish their alliances. Boran appears to be more organized and cooperative, while Samburu remains divided and disorganized.

The next day, the contestants in both tribes receive a tree mail, which indicates that they will be participating in their first immunity challenge. The challenge is a physical obstacle course, designed to test their strength, endurance, and teamwork. Each tribe will have to navigate through various obstacles, retrieve puzzle pieces, and solve a puzzle at the end.

The challenge begins, and both tribes give it their all. Boran takes an early lead, but Samburu manages to catch up by solving the puzzle faster. In the end, Samburu wins the challenge, earning immunity from the first tribal council. Boran is disappointed but remains optimistic about their chances in the game.

Back at their campsites, the contestants start to strategize and form alliances. The tension within Samburu becomes more apparent, as certain contestants clash and have different opinions on who should be targeted for elimination. Boran, on the other hand, seems to be more united and supportive of each other.

The first tribal council finally arrives, and the two tribes meet Jeff Probst at the designated location. Each contestant is asked to privately vote for the person they want to eliminate from the game. Tension and nervousness fill the air as the votes are cast.

Jeff Probst then tallies the votes and reveals the first person to be eliminated from the game. The contestant is asked to leave immediately and hand over their torch, symbolizing their departure from the game. The remaining contestants return to their campsite, relieved to have survived the first elimination but aware that the game has only just begun.

Overall, Survivor: Countdown to Africa sets up an exciting and unpredictable season for its viewers. The episode introduces the new contestants, establishes the setting and rules of the game, and establishes the first alliances and tensions within the tribes. The challenges and tribal council add an element of suspense and uncertainty to the game, keeping the viewers engaged and eager to see what happens next.
