The series is notable for strengthening Indo-Japanese ties. The series tells the story of a young sixteen year old from Mumbai, Suraj, who seeks to become the world's greatest cricket player. In India, cricket is not just a sport but something more akin to a religion and young Suraj's indomitable will makes him wish to become the idol his people seek and deserve. It is a adaptation of the Japanese anime series Kyojin no Hoshi, though that series focused on Baseball rather than cricket.
