In Superstore season 5 episode 2, titled "Testimonials," the employees of Cloud 9 are tasked with filming a series of promotional videos aimed at boosting the store's image. As they navigate their way through the process of creating these "testimonials," it quickly becomes clear that everyone has a slightly different idea of what the videos should look like.
Amy, who has been put in charge of the project, is determined to make a slick, professional-looking video that will impress upper management. Jonah, on the other hand, is more interested in creating something that feels authentic and relatable to the average customer. Meanwhile, Dina is preoccupied with making sure she looks good on camera, while Cheyenne is just excited to have the opportunity to be on TV.
As the day goes on, tensions begin to rise between the employees as they struggle to find common ground on the direction of the videos. Even Mateo, who typically isn't one to get too invested in work-related projects, finds himself becoming increasingly frustrated with the process.
Throughout the episode, we see a number of different sketches and scenes being filmed for the promotional videos. Some of these are more successful than others, with the employees occasionally struggling to deliver their lines or follow the director's instructions.
One particularly memorable scene involves Glenn, who is tasked with filming a segment about the store's pricing policies. When he realizes that the prices in the script are incorrect, he becomes increasingly flustered and begins to ad lib, much to the annoyance of the director.
As tensions continue to simmer throughout the day, it becomes clear that there are deeper issues at play between the employees. In particular, Amy and Jonah's ongoing romantic tension is brought to the forefront, as they find themselves at odds over the direction of the videos.
Despite these tensions, the employees ultimately manage to come together and create a series of videos that they can all be proud of. Though there are a few hiccups along the way, the finished product is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Overall, "Testimonials" is a fun and lighthearted episode that showcases the employees of Cloud 9 at their best. With plenty of laughs, some awkward moments, and a healthy dose of workplace drama, it's a great reminder of why Superstore has become one of the most beloved workplace comedies on television today.
