The episode "Ladies' Lunch" is the thirteenth episode of the second season of the NBC sitcom Superstore. The show follows the daily lives of employees working at Cloud 9, a fictional big-box department store in St. Louis, Missouri.
In this episode, Amy (America Ferrera), the store's floor supervisor, decides to organize a ladies' lunch for all the female employees. She plans to use the lunch as a platform to discuss and address issues affecting women working at the store. However, her ideas don't go according to plan, as she struggles to balance her obligations at work and home.
As Amy rushes to make the lunch perfect, Dina (Lauren Ash), the assistant manager, takes over and decides to impose her own vision of the event. She completely hijacks the planning process and disregards Amy's ideas. Dina even goes as far as to make an announcement over the intercom, suggesting that only women attend the lunch, leaving many male employees frustrated.
As the lunch starts, tensions run high as different groups of women voice their opinions on various issues that affect them. There is tension between the older and younger women, with the older women feeling like they are being ignored or not taken seriously. Meanwhile, the younger women feel like they are being underestimated because they are considered inexperienced.
During the event, Glenn (Mark McKinney), the store manager, takes the opportunity to try and impress the other male employees by offering a free barbecue to them. This angers Amy, who feels like the male employees are being prioritized over the females.
The episode also explores the personal lives of some of the characters. Mateo, who had a brief fling with Cheyenne, is visibly upset by the news and struggles to keep his emotions in check.
Overall, "Ladies' Lunch" is a hilarious episode that showcases the different personalities and perspectives of the women working at Cloud 9. The show touches on important issues like gender discrimination, ageism, and pregnancy, while still maintaining its light-hearted and comedic tone.
