As Julie and Zoe meet for the first time, they both express concern over their unhealthy eating habits. Julie, who weighs 294 pounds, confesses that she often turns to food for comfort and struggles with portion control. Zoe, on the other hand, weighs just 96 pounds and admits to being a picky eater who avoids meals altogether.
In an effort to understand their eating habits, Dr. Christian Jessen arranges for Julie and Zoe to swap diets for five days. To kick off their dietary swap, the duo goes grocery shopping for each other's diets. Julie is shocked by the small portion sizes and lack of variety in Zoe's food selection, while Zoe is overwhelmed by the amount of food and high calorie content in Julie's diet.
Throughout the week, Julie struggles to adapt to Zoe's diet and finds herself constantly feeling hungry. While she enjoys trying new foods, she struggles to find satisfaction in small portions. Zoe, on the other hand, is surprised to find that she actually enjoys some of the foods she typically avoids, such as avocado and scrambled eggs.
In addition to their dietary swap, Dr. Jessen also assigns them a variety of exercises to complete throughout the week. Despite being hesitant at first, both Julie and Zoe are able to complete the exercises and feel proud of their accomplishments. By the end of the week, both women have lost weight and feel more confident in their ability to make healthier choices.
In the final weigh-in, both Julie and Zoe have lost weight but are reminded that healthy weight loss should be gradual and sustainable. Dr. Jessen emphasizes the importance of finding balance in both diet and exercise and encourages both women to continue making positive changes in their lifestyles. The episode concludes with Julie and Zoe expressing gratitude for the experience and newfound insight into their eating habits.
