Ep 16. Dark Side of the Moon

Sam and Dean die and find themselves in Heaven, where they are greeted by Ash. He tells them that they are the first humans to have ever made it to Heaven without being sent there by angels, and that Heaven has been closed for a while, so they might want to enjoy it while it lasts. Sam and Dean take a moment to appreciate their surroundings and the fact that they are away from all the chaos of the world.

Their relaxation is short-lived, however, as Zachariah shows up. He tells them that they need to return to Earth and fulfill their destiny of saying ‘yes’ to Michael and Lucifer respectively, in order to save the world. The brothers refuse, and Zachariah tortures them, both physically and emotionally, until they finally agree to do it.

After experiencing all of these different memories, Sam and Dean eventually realize that they were brought to Heaven for a reason. Ash tells them that the angels are keeping a very important record in Heaven that details all of the good and bad things they’ve done throughout their lives. The only problem is that the record is nearly impossible to find.

Sam and Dean set out to find the record and make sure that it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. They search through Heaven, going through other people’s memories and trying to figure out where it could be. Eventually, they find it and learn that it contains information on every sin they had ever committed, including things they had done as children. Dean insists that they’re better than that now, but Sam is plagued with guilt.

As they try to leave Heaven with the record, they’re confronted by Zachariah and a group of angels. The brothers fight them off but are trapped in a corner. Just as it looks like all is lost, an unexpected ally shows up.

The episode concludes with Sam and Dean back on Earth, where they reconcile and make a decision that will impact the entire world.
