In the Supernatural season 1 episode 18 titled "Something Wicked," brothers Sam and Dean Winchester take on a case in the small town of Fitchburg, Wisconsin where children are mysteriously falling ill and dying. Upon investigating, the brothers discover that a creature they encountered in their childhood, called a "Shtriga," is the cause behind the illnesses.
The episode begins with a flashback to when the Winchester brothers were young and living in the town of Fitchburg. They are shown playing in a park when a little girl approaches them and tells them that her brother is sick. Sam and Dean accompany her to her home where they witness a hooded figure leaning over the sick boy, who suddenly wakes up and appears to be cured. Sam is able to catch a glimpse of the creature and recognizes it as a Shtriga, a creature that feeds off the life force of children.
In the present day, the brothers arrive in Fitchburg and begin investigating the recent deaths of young children. They meet a woman named Mrs. Tanner, whose son is currently sick and the brothers suspect he may be the next victim of the Shtriga. They install a surveillance camera in his room in hopes of catching the creature in action.
Meanwhile, Sam's health begins to deteriorate as he is plagued by memories of the first time they encountered the Shtriga. The creature had fed off of Sam's life force, leaving him weak and near death. Dean worries about his brother's health but they continue with the case.
As they continue to investigate, the brothers discover that the Shtriga has been posing as a doctor in order to gain access to the sick children. They follow the creature to an abandoned building where they engage in a tense showdown.
The episode comes to a climactic end as the brothers fight the Shtriga and do everything in their power to prevent it from taking another child's life. Along the way, they also confront their lingering fears and personal demons from their past.
Overall, "Something Wicked" is an intense and emotionally charged episode that explores the themes of childhood trauma and sibling bonds. The episode stands out as one of the best of the season, showcasing the strong character development and compelling storytelling that Supernatural is known for.
