The Del Re family is a family of four comprised of mom Danielle, dad Josh, and their two sons, seven-year-old DJ and five-year-old Austin. The family lives in a beautiful home in Florida, but they are struggling to maintain peace and order in their household.
Danielle is a stay-at-home mom who has a very lax approach to parenting. She believes in giving her children choices and letting them make their own decisions, even if those decisions are not in their best interest. Josh, on the other hand, is a strict disciplinarian who believes in spanking his children for misbehavior. These conflicting parenting styles have caused a lot of tension in the household and the children are caught in the middle.
DJ is a handful. He is extremely defiant and refuses to listen to his parents. He throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way and has even been known to hit his mother. He is also prone to wandering off and not listening to his parents when they call him. Austin is a more laid-back child, but he too has his moments of misbehavior. He often copies his brother's bad behavior and is not always respectful of his parents.
Supernanny arrives on the scene to help this family sort out their issues. She immediately observes that Danielle and Josh are not on the same page when it comes to parenting and this is causing a lot of confusion for the children. She advises them that they need to have a united front when it comes to discipline.
Supernanny then spends time with the children one on one to better understand their behavior. During her time with DJ, she discovers that he is seeking attention from his parents and acting out because he feels neglected. She advises Danielle and Josh to spend more quality time with their children and give them the attention they crave.
Supernanny also observes that the Del Re household is chaotic and disorganized. There are toys everywhere and the children's routines are not consistent. She works with the family to establish a routine and create a designated play area for the children. This helps to cut down on the chaos and gives the children a sense of structure.
Supernanny also works with the parents to establish a discipline plan that they both agree on. Danielle learns to set boundaries and stick to them, while Josh learns to use positive reinforcement instead of punishment. Together, they are able to create a more consistent and positive approach to discipline.
By the end of the episode, the Del Re family has made significant progress. The children are more respectful and well-behaved, and the parents are on the same page when it comes to parenting. They have a routine in place and are spending more quality time together as a family. Overall, this episode showcases the transformative power of consistent and positive discipline in creating a happier and more harmonious home environment.
