In Supermansion season 3 Episode 2 titled "Masters of Lex," we see the League of Freedom finding themselves without a basis of operations and no means of communication. To make matters worse, Dr. Malocchio has returned to wreak havoc on their lives. Lex Lightning (voiced by Yvette Nicole Brown) may just be the key to stopping him.
We start off in Metro City where the League of Freedom are going about their days. However, when a power outage hits the city, they discover that their headquarters, the Supermansion, has been destroyed. The group is left without a place to stay and can't communicate with each other. Black Saturn (voiced by Tucker Gilmore) suggests that they move in with Titanium Rex (voiced by Bryan Cranston) but that goes about as well as expected.
With all communication channels cut off, the members of the League of Freedom are flying blind. Everyone is worried about what Dr. Malocchio (voiced by Chris Pine) might be doing in the meantime. On top of that, Robobot (voiced by Heidi Gardner), who was sent into space by the team, has returned to Earth with a less-than-ideal situation. Things look their bleakest when Dr. Devizo (voiced by Chris Diamond) shows up, uncharacteristically cooperative, and selling information on Dr. Malocchio.
Meanwhile, Lex is busy trying to salvage her career by hosting The Hero Awards, a ceremony that recognizes various superheroes. It's a way for her to prove that she's not just a dumb weather girl. That is, until Dr. Malocchio crashes the party. Lex is the only one with the power to stop him, but she doesn't have the training or confidence to fully utilize her abilities.
As she struggles to fight Dr. Malocchio, the other members of the League of Freedom show up and eventually put an end to his plan. Along the way, Lex helps out the team in more ways than one. She joins the group and attempts to build her confidence around her own method of fighting.
In this episode, the show expands on its characters, giving them depth and further motivations for their actions. There's an emphasis on the group's cohesiveness and the varying relationships within it. Despite seemingly insurmountable odds, they come together and fight back. This is the true essence of the show - people who wouldn't normally work together overcoming the odds and coming out on top.
"Masters of Lex" is a continuation of Supermansion's formula that we've come to know and love. It's a fun, fast-paced episode with plenty of gags, witty dialogue, and slapstick humor. The animation style is bright and colorful - never failing to deliver on the comedic aspects of the show. Episode 2 offers an exploration of character and plot that is both engaging and entertaining.
Overall, the episode aims to provide a glimpse into superhero lives that viewers might not often consider. It wants to humanize these extraordinary individuals and bring them down to the level of the ordinary people they aim to protect. "Masters of Lex" ultimately triumphs with its message of teamwork and togetherness in the face of adversity. Despite being eclectic and bizarre - it remains a delightful watch for all ages.
