In season 2 episode 7 of Superman: The Animated Series entitled "Target," the Daily Planet receives a message from an anonymous source claiming to have information on the notorious villain, the Parasite. Lois and Clark investigate and discover that the source is Ethan Press, a former scientist who worked with the Parasite before he gained his powers. Press claims to have a device that can permanently remove the Parasite's abilities, but he needs Superman's help to test it.
Meanwhile, the Parasite himself is wreaking havoc in Metropolis, draining the life force from anyone he comes in contact with. Superman tries to stop him, but the Parasite is too powerful for him to handle alone. Just as things are looking bleak, Press arrives on the scene with his device. Superman is hesitant to use it, fearing that it could be dangerous or ineffective, but he ultimately agrees.
The device works, and the Parasite is left powerless. Superman takes him into custody and thanks Press for his help. However, they soon realize that the Parasite's powers have been transferred to someone else: Press himself. Press had secretly built the device to give himself the Parasite's abilities, hoping to use them for a personal vendetta against his former employer.
Superman tries to reason with Press, but he is consumed by his new powers and refuses to give them up. He attacks Superman, and they engage in a fierce battle across the city. Ultimately, Superman is able to subdue Press and remove his powers, but the experience leaves him shaken.
Back at the Daily Planet, Lois confronts Clark about his distant behavior. He admits that he is struggling with the knowledge that he may not always be able to save everyone, no matter how hard he tries. Lois comforts him and reminds him that he is only human, and that it is his compassion and determination that make him a hero.
Overall, "Target" is a thrilling episode that explores the limits of Superman's powers and the moral dilemmas he faces as a superhero. The introduction of Ethan Press and his device adds an interesting twist to the classic Parasite storyline, and the action-packed battle between Superman and Press is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
