In season 2 episode 21 of Superman: The Animated Series titled "Prototype," Superman faces a new challenge when a man-made weapon called the Annihilator goes missing and starts wreaking havoc on the city of Metropolis. The Annihilator was created by John Henry Irons, a former weapons designer who now works for S.T.A.R. Labs as an engineer.
As Superman investigates the situation, he discovers that the Annihilator has been stolen by a group of terrorists led by a man named Coretta. Coretta and her team plan to use the weapon to destroy the Daily Planet building and make a statement about their cause.
Superman must find a way to stop the Annihilator before it's too late, but he's not the only one on the case. John Henry Irons has also been working on a solution, and he has just completed a new prototype suit that he believes can take down the Annihilator.
When Superman and Irons team up to take on the terrorists and the Annihilator, they soon realize that the suit Irons created may be more powerful than they ever imagined. The suit, dubbed the Steel suit, gives Irons incredible strength and agility, and together with Superman's powers, they are able to take on the Annihilator and the terrorists.
However, as they fight to save the city, they begin to realize that there may be consequences to using such powerful technology. Irons begins to fear that the suit he created could fall into the wrong hands and be used for evil, and he starts to question the morality of creating such advanced weapons.
As the episode comes to a close, Superman and Irons are successful in stopping the Annihilator and saving the Daily Planet building. However, Irons is left with a newfound sense of responsibility for the power he possesses, and he begins to question the role of technology in society.
"Prototype" is an action-packed episode that explores the dangers of advanced technology and the responsibility that comes with great power. It showcases both Superman's strength and Irons' ingenuity, and raises important ethical questions about the role of technology in our world.
