Ep 1. Blasts From The Past: Part 1

In Superman: The Animated Series season 2 episode 1, titled "Blasts From The Past: Part 1," the plot begins when two former Kryptonian criminals are released from their Phantom Zone imprisonment. These villains, Jax-Ur and Mala, were banished from Krypton by Jor-El, Clark Kent's father, for attempting to overthrow the planet's government. Once freed, the pair sets their sights on revenge against Superman and Jor-El's family.

Meanwhile, Superman is dealing with his own personal struggles, particularly his distance from his long-time love interest, Lois Lane. As Superman tries to reconnect with Lois, he is disturbed by the sudden emergence of Jax-Ur and Mala, who have much greater powers than before. While trying to thwart their evil plans, Superman discovers that his parents' past actions have come back to haunt him.

As the episode unfolds, Superman finds himself fighting against Jax-Ur and Mala's attempts to destroy the Metropolis power plants. The villains then reveal their ultimate plan to trigger a massive earthquake that would flatten the city, allowing them to start anew. Superman enlists the help of Lois and Dr. Emil Hamilton to solve the puzzle of the villains' plan and stop them before it's too late.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Mala takes Lois hostage, using her as leverage against Superman. With no other options, Superman is forced to make a difficult decision that could jeopardize his own safety and that of the people he is sworn to protect.
