Ep 17. Atom Man Appears!

Superman: The Animated Series season 1 episode 17 is titled "Atom Man Appears!" In this episode, Clark Kent, also known as Superman, has his hands full as he must protect the city of Metropolis from a new villain - Atom Man. However, the big difference with that villain is that he is actually a self-proclaimed scientist named Dr. Heinrich Megala who has given himself incredible powers through a device that can manipulate atoms at will.

As the episode begins, we see a group of robbers breaking into a jewelry store. They seem to be making quick work of the heist when all of a sudden, a shimmering figure appears out of nowhere and takes them all down in an epic display of strength and power. The figure introduces himself as Atom Man and tells the bystanders that he is Metropolis' newest superhero, here to keep the city safe from all harm.

While the people of Metropolis may have welcomed Atom Man's presence at first, Clark Kent is suspicious and curious about the superhero's true intentions. As he investigates further, Clark discovers that Atom Man is actually Dr. Heinrich Megala, a former colleague of Superman's friend and mentor, Dr. Emil Hamilton.

Fueled by jealousy, Megala became obsessed with gaining powers that would rival Superman's and decided to take matters into his own hands. He developed a device that could manipulate the atoms in his body, giving him incredible strength and abilities.

As Atom Man, Megala continues to help people in need, but as he gains more power, his ego and thirst for control also grow. Soon, he become more and more destructive in his attempts to “protect” the city, leading Superman to confront him in an epic battle that will test both heroes to their very limits.

Throughout the episode, we get to see Superman and Atom Man clash in a series of high-energy action scenes, with each hero trying to prove himself the stronger one. On the other hand, Dr. Hamilton, who was responsible for the Atomizer which provided the powers for Atom Man tries his best to stop Megala from his destructive plans.

Overall, "Atom Man Appears!" is an exciting episode that showcases the best of Superman, as he battles a formidable foe. The episode also touches on themes of power, greed, and ego, and how they can be a dangerous combination. It's a must-watch for fans of the series and superhero stories in general.
