Superman: The Animated Series season 1 episode 13, titled "Two's A Crowd," picks up with Superman once again facing off against his arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. But this time there's a new wrinkle in their ongoing feud: a clone of Superman.
The clone, created by Luthor's mad scientist sidekick Dr. Teng, is an exact duplicate of the Man of Steel. It even possesses all of Superman's powers and abilities, including flight, invulnerability, x-ray vision, and heat vision. At first, Superman is skeptical of his double, but he quickly realizes that this impostor presents a major threat to Metropolis.
With the clone wreaking havoc across the city, Superman has no choice but to confront his doppelganger. But the battle between the two Kryptonians is evenly matched, and even Superman has trouble keeping up with his copy. To make matters worse, Luthor is using the chaos created by the clone to launch his own nefarious scheme, putting both Superman and the citizens of Metropolis in danger.
As the action ramps up, the episode also delves into some of the deeper philosophical questions surrounding Superman's existence. Is he really unique, or just one of many of his kind? If there were multiple Supermen, how would they interact with each other? And what does it mean to be Superman, anyway? These are all questions that the clone's appearance brings to the forefront, and they are explored in surprising depth throughout the course of the episode.
But ultimately, "Two's A Crowd" is an action-packed adventure that will satisfy even the most die-hard Superman fans. With its combination of exciting fight sequences and thoughtful exploration of Superman's identity, it's a standout episode that is sure to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
