Superior Donuts is a television show that aired on CBS from 2017 to 2018, created by Neil Goldman, Garrett Donovan, and Bob Daily. The show is based on a play of the same name by Tracy Letts and follows the story of Arthur Przybyszewski, a former hippie who owns and operates a rundown donut shop in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. The show features a talented cast, including Jermaine Fowler as Franco Wicks, David Koechner as Carl “Tush” Tushinski, and Maz Jobrani as Fawz.

The show takes place in and around Superior Donuts, a shop that has been in Przybyszewski's family for generations. The shop is run-down, and the equipment often malfunctions, but it has a loyal customer base that keeps the business afloat. Arthur is content with life as it is, not looking to make any major changes to the shop or his life.

Franco is a young African-American man who is full of ambition and dreams of becoming an artist. He begins working at Superior Donuts in the hopes of saving enough money to fund his latest project. Franco's modern ideas and artistic sensibilities clash with Arthur's traditional views and resistance to change. Despite this, the two men develop a bond and eventually become friends.

Tush is a regular customer at the donut shop who often hangs out with Arthur, offering advice and keeping him company. Tush is a boisterous, larger-than-life character who enjoys living life to the fullest. He often regales Arthur with stories of his past exploits and adventures.

Fawz is the owner of a neighboring business, a video store. He is often at odds with Arthur but sees the potential of the donut shop as a prime location for his own business increase. He is a shrewd businessman who is always looking out for his own best interests.

The show revolves around the relationships between these characters and their interactions with one another. It tackles issues such as race, gentrification, and the struggles of small business owners. It also explores themes of friendship and the importance of community.

One of the hallmarks of the show is its humor. The dialogue is witty, and the characters are funny and endearing. The show strikes a balance between humor and drama, making for a compelling narrative that keeps the viewers engaged. The acting is top-notch, and the chemistry between the cast members is evident.

The show was praised for its diverse cast, which included African-American, Caucasian, and Iranian-American actors. The characters were portrayed as nuanced individuals with their own unique personalities and motivations.

Overall, Superior Donuts was a well-written, well-acted show that was unfortunately canceled after only two seasons. It tackled important issues while still managing to be entertaining and funny. Its cancellation was met with disappointment by fans, who felt that the show deserved more time to develop its characters and storylines. Despite its short run, Superior Donuts remains a beloved show among its fans and is worth checking out for anyone who enjoys comedy and drama with heart.

Superior Donuts is a series that ran for 2 seasons (34 episodes) between February 2, 2017 and on CBS
