Super Why! Season 4 Episode 8, "The Three Little Pigs: The Return of the Wolf," sees the beloved characters from the classic fairytale return with a brand new twist. After the Three Little Pigs completed their storybook adventure and built their houses to withstand the huffs and puffs of the Big Bad Wolf, they thought their troubles were over. Little did they know that the Wolf was not defeated and was still scheming to get his hands on their delicious pork chops.
The episode starts with the Three Little Pigs revealing that they received an invitation to a piggy banquet, and they are excited to attend. However, upon arrival, they discover that it was all a trap set by the Big Bad Wolf. The Wolf calls upon his friends, the Waffling Witches, to cast a spell and shrink the pigs down to the size of toys. The Witch's plan worked, and the pigs become miniature versions of themselves, leaving them helpless and at the mercy of the Wolf.
The Super Readers, who watched this all unfold from their book club, leap into action to save their friends. They jump into the storybook and transform into their superhero alter-egos to help the Three Little Pigs. The team quickly discovers that the Pig's houses were no longer big enough to protect them from the Wolf since they were shrunk down. So they turn to a different strategy and decide to help the pigs make use of their brains and create a new plan to outsmart the Wolf.
To come up with a plan, the Super Readers visited a second storybook, The Little Red Hen, to get an example of a smart animal outwitting a troublesome creature. They also gathered more inspiration by visiting The Pied Piper of Hamlin. The Super Readers return with plenty of green vegetables from The Little Red Hen, as well as a magical, colorful flute from the Pied Piper. They explain to the Three Little Pigs that they need to use their cleverness to outwit the Wolf and lure him away from their home.
With the Super Readers' help, the Three Little Pigs devise a plan to create a giant salad using all of the greens and lettuce at their disposal. The Pig's hope is that the Big Bad Wolf's cravings will lead him straight to their trap. The three pigs collaborate and even create a large spaghetti and meatballs dish to further tempt the Wolf.
As expected, the Big Bad Wolf arrives, and his mouth waters at the sight of the salad. As he prepares to pounce on his prey, the Three Little Pigs and the Super Readers begin to play the magical Pied Piper's flute. The music proves irresistible to the Wolf, and he can't help but dance along with the music. His dance moves are so lively that he accidentally knocks himself out into the salad, which the pigs and the Super Readers eat, making enough time for the pigs to grow back to their normal size.
The episode wraps up with the Three Little Pigs thanking the Super Readers for their help before having a little dance party with the Wolf as newfound friends. This fun and creative adventure teaches young viewers about the importance of using their heads to outsmart those who might want to harm them. It also emphasizes the message that friendship and collaboration can overcome even the toughest challenge.
Overall, Super Why! Season 4 Episode 8, "The Three Little Pigs: The Return of the Wolf," is a delightful episode with a fantastic message that will leave both adults and children feeling happy and entertained.
