In Super Why! season 1 episode 3 titled "The Tortoise and the Hare," the Super Readers find themselves in the middle of a race between the Tortoise and the Hare. The Hare is overconfident that he will win because he is faster than the Tortoise, while the Tortoise is determined to win despite being slow.

As the Super Readers watch the race, they realize that the Hare keeps getting distracted and taking breaks, while the Tortoise keeps moving steadily towards the finish line. They also notice that the Hare is not reading any of the signs along the way, which could help him avoid trouble.

The Super Readers decide to intervene and help both the Hare and the Tortoise. They use their reading powers to change the words on the signs so that they will be more helpful to the Hare. They also teach the Hare to focus on the race and not get distracted by his surroundings.

Meanwhile, they help the Tortoise to speed up by teaching him a new rhyme that he can repeat to himself as he runs. With their help, both the Hare and the Tortoise are able to improve their performance in the race.

As the race draws to a close, the Hare and the Tortoise reach the finish line at the same time. The Hare is shocked that the Tortoise was able to keep up with him, but the Super Readers remind him that slow and steady often wins the race.

In the end, the Hare apologizes for his overconfidence and the two competitors become friends. The Super Readers then turn to the audience and encourage them to read signs and pay attention to their surroundings, just like the Tortoise and the Hare did in the race. They also remind the audience that anyone can win a race if they are determined and focused.
