Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) is feeling the pressure in Suits season 5 episode 7 as he tries to balance his work at Pearson Specter Litt and his new position as Managing Partner with his loyalties to his protégé, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams).
At the beginning of the episode, Mike is still dealing with the fallout from the revelation that he never went to law school. He failed the bar exam and is now on leave from the firm until he can get his license. Meanwhile, Harvey is trying to adjust to his new role as boss and deal with the repercussions of his actions with SEC investigator Sean Cahill (Neal McDonough).
Things get even more complicated when Harvey's old mentor, Cameron Dennis (Gary Cole), reappears and asks for his help in a case involving a woman named Dr. Ava Hessington (Michelle Fairley). Hessington is the CEO of a major oil company and is facing charges of bribery and embezzlement. Cameron wants Harvey to represent her, but Harvey is hesitant. He knows that the case will be difficult and time-consuming, and he's not sure if he can handle it on top of everything else.
Meanwhile, Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) is trying to prove himself to his new love interest, Tara (Carly Pope). He's taken on a big case involving a pharmaceutical company that he hopes will help him earn her respect. However, things take a turn for the worse when he realizes that he's gotten in over his head and needs help from Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty).
As the episode progresses, tensions continue to rise at the firm. Harvey struggles to balance his duties as both Managing Partner and lawyer, and Mike's absence is felt more acutely than ever before. Louis and Tara run into trouble when they discover that the pharmaceutical company they're up against is willing to do whatever it takes to protect its interests. And Donna finds herself caught in the middle of everything, trying to keep the peace while still remaining loyal to Harvey and the rest of the team.
In the end, everything comes to a head as each character is forced to confront their own vulnerabilities and shortcomings. Harvey must decide whether or not he's willing to put everything on the line for the sake of the firm. Mike must come to terms with the consequences of his past actions and decide whether or not he's willing to fight for his future. Louis and Tara must figure out a way to work together if they want to have any chance of winning their case. And Donna must decide where her loyalties lie and what she's willing to do to protect the people she cares about.
