In the first episode of Strike Back season 3, titled "Shadow Warfare: Episode 1," a new threat emerges in the form of a terrorist group called Al-Zuhari, led by elusive mastermind Rahman (played by veteran actor Fahri Yardim). Section 20, the secret British intelligence unit tasked with stopping threats to national security, is called into action along with their American counterparts to stop Al-Zuhari from carrying out a massive attack on a European capital.
The episode opens with a tense scene in which a Section 20 operative named Stonebridge (played by Philip Winchester) is taken captive by Al-Zuhari. Stonebridge is subjected to brutal torture, including having his fingernails ripped off, in a bid to get him to reveal information about his unit's plans. Meanwhile, his partner Scott (played by Sullivan Stapleton) and other members of Section 20 are trying to locate him and uncover the terrorists' plans.
As the episode progresses, we are introduced to the new members of Section 20, including the tough-as-nails Sergeant Julia Richmond (played by Michelle Lukes) and the reckless but talented Sergeant Liam Baxter (played by Liam Garrigan). Together, they must work to track down Stonebridge and stop Al-Zuhari before they can carry out their devastating attack.
Throughout the episode, we are treated to intense action sequences, including shootouts, car chases, and hand-to-hand combat. The show's signature blend of adrenaline-fueled action and complex character relationships is on full display, as we see the various members of the team working together and struggling to overcome their personal demons.
As the episode draws to a close, we are left on a cliffhanger that sets up the rest of the season, with Section 20 facing a seemingly impossible mission that will take them from Europe to Africa and beyond. "Shadow Warfare: Episode 1" sets the stage for another exciting season of Strike Back, with high stakes, pulse-pounding action, and a cast of compelling characters that viewers can't help but root for.
