Ep 7. The King Has Left the Building

The King Has Left the Building is the seventh episode of the first season of the American comedy series Still the King. Unfazed by the prospect of playing for hardened criminals, Vernon and the band prepare for the concert. However, things start to go wrong when Charlotte shows up at the prison with a friend. Vernon tries to bond with Charlotte's friend in an attempt to get her to forgive him, but things don't go as planned. Meanwhile, Walt has some problems of his own. He is getting threatening phone calls from a loan shark he owes money to.

As if things couldn't get any worse, Vernon and the band are forced to go on without their guitarist, who has fallen ill. They try to make the best of the situation but don't do very well. The inmates are unimpressed with the performance, and tension starts to build in the crowd. Just as things are starting to look like they might turn violent, Vernon has an idea. He decides to play an old gospel song that he learned as a child. As he starts to sing, the inmates begin to join in, and soon the entire prison is singing along.

Back at home, Debbie Lynn shows up at Vernon's house uninvited. She tells him that she's in love with him and wants to be with him. Vernon gently turns her down, telling her that he's not interested in her romantically. She leaves, heartbroken.

The episode ends with Vernon and Charlotte bonding over their love of the gospel song he sang at the prison. Charlotte forgives Vernon, and they embrace. Vernon may not have everything figured out, but at least he's starting to make progress.
