Comedic sketch programs can be found on many channels but Stevie TV on VH1 is one of the network's newest programs. The show's host Stevie Ryan, got her start like many other people wanting to break into the entertainment industry, on Youtube. Her videos parodied celebrities, and she also created her own unique characters like the juvenile delinquent Katrina who appears on Stevie's spoof of the Maury Povich Show, Maurly. This absurd character makes it into Stevie's new sketch program.
Stevie TV does not stray too far from the comedian's original Youtube videos. The difference is mainly in the length, Stevie TV is made to fit a half hour time slot.
Having come from Youtube Stevie knows how to keep up with some of the most youth oriented culture. One sketch is called "Intervention: Twerking" where Stevie herself portrays a young woman who has become addicted to twerking, a dance phenomena that got its start on Youtube, after participating in dance classes.
Sketches featured on Stevie TV are mainly pop culture parodies. Stevie produces parodies from the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kendra Wilkinson, and television series like The Golden Girls.
Of course, no sketch comedy show would be complete without reality television parodies. Stevie invests some of her time in these parodies of some of cable's longest airing and popular shows such as The Bachelor, which Stevie turns into "The Cheater," where the man is essentially looking for a mistress.
Another reality television sketch that is definitely not off limits is Extreme Couponing. This sketch based on a familiar show even features Stevie's own creation, Katrina.
Stevie TV also taps into the gold mine that is children's television and produces creative parodies of some of TV's strangest kid's programming. VH1 obviously did not want to miss out on this up and coming face of comedy.
Stevie TV is a series that is currently running and has 2 seasons (15 episodes). The series first aired on April 28, 2003.
