Starsky and Hutch season 2 episode 17, titled "The Setup," follows detectives Dave Starsky and Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson as they investigate a series of robberies at a local fur store. The episode opens with the detectives staking out the fur store, where they witness two men attempting to break in. Starsky and Hutch chase the burglars, but they escape in a high-speed car chase.
The detectives later learn that the burglars are part of a larger criminal syndicate, led by a man named Borgia. Borgia is a notorious criminal who has been evading police for years, and his organization is involved in everything from drug trafficking to racketeering. Starsky and Hutch know that they need to take down Borgia's operation, but they are struggling to gather enough evidence to make a case.
Their luck changes when they are contacted by an informant named Cindy. Cindy claims to have inside knowledge of Borgia's organization and offers to help the detectives bring him down. However, Starsky and Hutch are hesitant to trust her, as they have been burned by informants in the past.
Despite their reservations, Starsky and Hutch decide to work with Cindy, and she begins feeding them information about Borgia's criminal activities. They use this information to launch a series of raids against his organization, seizing drugs, counterfeit money, and various other illegal items.
As the investigation progresses, Starsky and Hutch begin to suspect that Cindy may not be as trustworthy as she seems. They start to uncover inconsistencies in her stories, and they come to realize that she might be working with Borgia to set them up.
As suspicion grows, Starsky and Hutch race against the clock to gather enough evidence to bring Borgia to justice. They use all of their skills and resources to unravel the intricate web of crimes that Borgia's organization has been involved in.
Ultimately, the detectives are able to uncover the truth about Cindy's involvement and bring down Borgia's entire operation. The episode ends with Starsky and Hutch celebrating their victory, but also reflecting on the risks they took and the sacrifices they made in order to see justice served.
