In Stargate Universe season 1 episode 9, titled "Life," the crew of the Destiny is faced with a difficult decision when a member of their team becomes critically ill. The episode opens with Eli trying to fix the ship's almost-depleted water supply, but he's quickly called away to help Chloe, who has developed a mysterious illness that has left her in a coma.
Dr. Park is struggling to figure out what's wrong with Chloe, and the rest of the crew is beginning to lose hope. Rush eventually suggests that they activate the ship's life-support pods, which would essentially put Chloe in a medically induced coma, allowing her body to heal on its own. The rest of the crew is hesitant, but Eli and Rush are able to convince them to try the life-support pods as a last resort.
While Chloe is in the life-support pod, the rest of the crew must deal with their own personal issues. Greer is struggling with the guilt of killing a man in self-defense, and Scott is still coming to terms with the fact that his girlfriend, Tamara Johansen, is pregnant with his child.
As the days go by, Chloe begins to show signs of improvement, and the crew is relieved that they made the right choice. However, they soon realize that the life-support pods are causing a dangerous buildup of carbon dioxide on the ship. The crew must work quickly to solve the problem before it's too late.
Meanwhile, Eli and Rush are continuing to work on a way to dial Earth using the Destiny's Stargate. They believe that if they can establish a connection with Earth, they may be able to get help for Chloe and the rest of the crew. However, their efforts are hampered by a problem with the ship's power supply.
As the episode comes to a close, the crew is able to solve the carbon dioxide problem, and Chloe is taken out of the life-support pod. She's still weak, but she's on the road to recovery. Eli and Rush continue to work on dialing Earth, and the rest of the crew is hopeful that they'll be able to make contact soon.
Overall, "Life" is a powerful episode that showcases the strengths of the Stargate Universe series. The show's focus on character development is on full display here, as the crew members deal with personal struggles while trying to save one of their own. The episode is also successful in building tension, as the carbon dioxide buildup puts the entire crew in danger. This is a must-watch episode for fans of the series.
