The SG-1 team is sent on a mission to save Teal'c's former mentor, the Jaffa warrior Bra'tac. Bra'tac has been captured by the Goa'uld System Lord Moloc, who is determined to learn the location of rebel Jaffa forces.
Teal'c, Daniel, and Carter travel to the planet where Bra'tac is being held captive, while O'Neill stays behind to coordinate the mission from Earth. Once they arrive, they disguise themselves as Jaffa and infiltrate Moloc's stronghold.
Meanwhile, Bra'tac is being tortured by Moloc and his minions in an attempt to extract information from him. Throughout the episode, flashbacks reveal the history between Bra'tac and Teal'c, including how Bra'tac helped guide Teal'c in his rebellion against the Goa'uld.
As the SG-1 team navigates Moloc's stronghold, they encounter a young girl named Ishta who claims to be the leader of a group of rebel Jaffa. Ishta and her followers are determined to overthrow Moloc and other Goa'uld who seek to oppress their people.
Eventually, the team is able to rescue Bra'tac and take down Moloc's forces. However, they are faced with a difficult decision when Ishta asks them to help in her fight against the Goa'uld. Teal'c wants to help, but the other members of the team are hesitant to get involved in what could become a larger conflict.
Overall, "Orpheus" is a meditation on the complicated political landscape of the Stargate universe, as well as the bonds of loyalty and friendship between the SG-1 team members and their allies. The episode also highlights Teal'c's unique role as a bridge between his Jaffa heritage and his allegiance to Earth and the SGC.
