SG-1 returns from a mission to find that the Stargate has been disabled, thus trapping them on Earth. Brigadier General Jack O'Neill and Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter explain that the government has decided to "gate out" to prevent further alien incursions into Earth. They are being restricted due to the past incidence of the activity of Goa’uld and other Stargate beings that had affected Earth in earlier seasons. It is unclear whether their confinement is permanent. Soon after, Carter gets a message from the Tok'ra, which has gone into hiding since their last meeting. The message contains the location of the goa’uld group, which is known for their powerful mind control abilities, known as the "Trust." The Trust is working with a group of other alien beings to gain information on the Stargate and the SG-1 team, exposing Earth to extreme danger. Carter believes that by taking out the Trust, they can convince the government to lift the ban and help to protect them from any attack. They devise a plan to infiltrate the Trust's headquarters and eliminate their leaders with the help of the Tok'ra. It is decided they would use modified UAV cameras to map out the secret base and its escape routes, but as they approach the base, the team is ambushed, and Carter is captured. In an attempt to rescue their teammate, the team devises a daring and risky mission that involves infiltrating the Trust base, with the help of the Tok'ra, and freeing Carter. However, the SG-1 team is low on fuel and facing heavy resistance from the enemy. As they prepare for the rescue operation, they are almost discovered by the enemy but manage to slip away due to a distraction created by the bomber pilot, Daniel Jackson. As Jackson creates the diversion, the SG-1 team splits up with Colonel Cameron Mitchell, in charge of locating the UAV flight recorder to analyze the video feeds captured during the previous attempt, while O'Neill and Teal'c go on the rescue mission. The two are successful in rescuing Carter but recognize the captured Trust member as their former comrade, Major Davis. They learn from Davis that several high ranking officials were involved in the creation of the Trust and the events leading to the SG-1 team being locked out and forced on the run. With the help of the Tok'ra and Davis, SG-1 is able to gather enough intel on the Trust to take down several of its members and reveal their involvement to the government. The Trust then begins to lash out in a series of attacks on several key US government officials. These attacks force the administration to lift the restrictions, helping the SG-1 team to continue their fight against the goa’uld and other intergalactic threats. In the end, SG-1 is successful in its mission, and they are free once again to travel through the Stargate to other planets and galaxies, putting a stop to evil domination, one dimension at a time.
