Ep 7. Cold Lazarus

When a seemingly derelict spacecraft is discovered on a distant planet, SG-1 investigates. Inside, they find a cryogenic chamber containing a man in suspended animation, as well as a mysterious crystal. As they attempt to remove the crystal, it shatters, releasing a cloud of energy that knocks out the team. When they awaken, they find that O'Neill is missing and the man from the cryogenic chamber is awake. However, he has no memory of who he is or how he got there.

The man, whom they name "John," insists that he is not a threat and wishes to learn about his surroundings. While Carter and Teal'c try to repair the broken transporter, Dr. Fraiser examines John and discovers that he has an abnormality in his brain. Despite this, he appears to be physically healthy. As John continues to explore their base, he is struck by intense memories, but they are not his own. He begins to suspect that he may be part of an experiment.

Meanwhile, O'Neill awakens on the planet's surface, suffering from amnesia. He is found by a young boy named Charlie who helps him recover. O'Neill begins to suspect that something isn't right when he meets Charlie's grandfather, Harry Maybourne, who seems somewhat sinister. As O'Neill tries to piece together his memory, he begins to realize that he may not be who he thought he was.

Back on the spaceship, John's memories become more vivid and he recalls a scientist named Lazarus who was conducting a dangerous experiment. It is revealed that John is, in fact, Lazarus, and the experiment involved a device that would allow a person's memories to be transferred to a crystal, which could then be implanted into another person's brain. When John's experiment went awry, he was forced to transfer his memories into the crystal to save himself. However, the process was imperfect, and John/Lazarus has been trapped in suspended animation since.

As John/Lazarus attempts to come to terms with his past, SG-1 discovers that the crystal he was implanted with is affecting their base's systems. They realize that they must remove it before it destroys them all. However, in the process, John/Lazarus is affected, and his life is put in danger. As SG-1 races to save him, they begin to question the ethics of the experiment and its consequences.

In the end, O'Neill's memory is restored and John/Lazarus is saved, but not without consequences. The team grapples with the ethics of the experiment and the consequences of tampering with the human mind. The episode ends with the team shaken but resolute in their decision to continue exploring the galaxy and all its mysteries.
