The Return: Part 2 is the eleventh episode of the third season of Stargate Atlantis. The episode continues where the previous one left off, with the Atlantis team heading back to Earth with the aim of finding the ZPMs required to power Atlantis for the long term.
Upon arriving on Earth, the team quickly discovers that things have changed since they left. The IOA (International Oversight Advisory) has taken control of the Stargate program and has moved everything to a new, secret location – a mountain bunker complex in the US. The Atlantis team soon realizes that they are no longer in charge and that they must answer to the IOA.
Soon after arriving, Rodney McKay discovers that the new base does not have a ZPM. It turns out that one was stolen by a group of rogue NID (National Intelligence Division) agents and that the IOA has been unable to locate it. The team sets out to retrieve the ZPM, but their mission is complicated when they learn that the rogue agents are being aided by a group of Asgard.
The Asgard, who are from a highly advanced race of aliens, have had contact with Earth before and are known for their advanced technology. The Atlantis team soon realizes that the Asgard are transplanted minds, and the aliens they're dealing with are actually android bodies controlled by the transplanted minds. The rogue agents have made a deal with the Asgard, agreeing to help them and return, the Asgard would give them their advanced technology.
As the team sets out to retrieve the ZPM, they must fight against both the rogue agents and the Asgard. They do eventually manage to retrieve the ZPM, but not before a lot of damage is done and the stakes are raised. In the end, the team realizes that things are not going to be easy going forward, especially when dealing with the new leadership of the Stargate program.
Overall, The Return: Part 2 is a fast-paced, action-packed episode that sets up a lot of tension for what is to come. The episode is full of twists and turns and is sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
