Ep 20. Allies

The episode "Allies" from season 2 of Stargate Atlantis takes our team of explorers on a new adventure as they encounter a new species known as the Asurans. Our team has just recently defeated the Replicators and thought they had eradicated the threat, but this new encounter leaves them feeling unsure of what to expect next.

We join the episode as the team is receiving a transmission from the Wraith. The Wraith informs them of their latest activity where they plan to destroy the remaining Replicators that the team previously defeated. The Wraith offers to help the team fight the Replicators but, much to the team's surprise, they do not need their help.

We learn that the Asurans have a very similar technology and appearance as the Replicators, and they were created by the Ancients who created the Stargate network. However, unlike the Replicators, which were designed for destruction, the Asurans were meant to serve the Ancients as a peaceful race of creators, but they turned on their creators and became a threat to the galaxy.

As the episode continues, the team discovers that the Asurans have taken over the Replicator homeworld and now have control of their technology. McKay, one of the team scientists, recognizes the Asuran technology as not only similar to the Replicators but also a lot more advanced. However, McKay remains unsure of whether the Asurans are friend or foe.

The Asurans reach out to the team, requesting their help in the battle against their own kind, the Replicators. However, the team remains unsure and does not trust them after their previous encounter with the Replicators. Despite their doubts, the team agrees to help.

The team departs for the Replicator homeworld to help the Asurans with their mission. However, this mission proves to be a lot more complicated than anticipated, and the team must continuously have their guard up.

All throughout the episode, the team is on high alert, and we see them struggling with the concept of allying with an unknown and extremely advanced race. Teyla, one of the team members, makes an effort to understand and empathize with the Asurans, reminding the team that they too were created by the Ancients.

The team soon realizes that the Asurans are not entirely as trustworthy as they seem. They reveal to Sheppard, the team leader, that they plan to continue creating more Asurans and take over the galaxy.

The team must race against time to find a way to stop the Asurans before they create their army of machines that could pose a grave threat to the galaxy. In the season finale, we see the team being tested yet again, with unexpected twists and turns that only heighten the tension and keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Overall, the "Allies" episode from season 2 of Stargate Atlantis is an enthralling story about trust and betrayal. The team is forced to navigate through uncharted waters as they are invited on a journey that may or may not lead them to victory. The episode leaves us with an all-new sense of uncertainty as we eagerly anticipate what Season 3 has to offer.
