Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano embark on a new mission to the planet of Onderon, where a group of rebels is fighting to overthrow the planet's oppressive leadership. Along with Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and clone troopers Captain Rex and Commander Cody, they must aid these rebels in their struggle for freedom.
The rebel leader, a former Onderonian senator named Lux Bonteri, has requested the Jedi's assistance in training his forces to take on the Separatist droid army. The Jedi agree to help, but Anakin is concerned about Ahsoka's safety and assigns her to oversee the training from a distance. Ahsoka is disappointed to be left out of the action, but promises to do her best.
As the training progresses, Ahsoka becomes convinced that Lux is hiding something from her. When she confronts him, Lux reveals that he has been working with his former mentor, Count Dooku, in an attempt to orchestrate a peaceful resolution to the conflict on Onderon. He asks Ahsoka to help him meet with Dooku, hoping to convince him to end the fighting without further bloodshed.
Against Anakin's orders, Ahsoka agrees to help Lux and sneaks off to meet with Dooku. However, their meeting quickly turns dangerous when it becomes clear that Dooku has no intention of ending the conflict peacefully. Ahsoka is forced to fight for her life against Dooku's new assassin, a deadly Nightsister named Asajj Ventress.
Meanwhile, on Onderon, the rebels launch a successful attack against a Separatist droid factory, but are soon pinned down by enemy fire. With Ahsoka absent and their situation growing dire, Anakin decides to take matters into his own hands. He and Obi-Wan join the fight on Onderon, leading the rebels and turning the battle in their favor.
Back on Dooku's ship, Ahsoka manages to escape from Ventress with the help of Lux's droid, Tiber. She and Lux make their way back to Onderon, but are intercepted by Separatist forces. In the ensuing battle, Lux is badly wounded and Ahsoka is taken prisoner by the Separatists.
As the episode ends, Anakin and Obi-Wan return to the capital city of Onderon to find it completely under Separatist control. With Ahsoka missing and the rebels in disarray, the fate of Onderon hangs in the balance.
